The Michigan Brewers Guild hosted the 24th Annual Michigan Summer Beer Fest last weekend on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22. The two-day festival was held in Ypsilanti’s Riverside Park in Depot Town.

The weather was nearly perfect as the beers were flowing from over 100 Michigan breweries. In addition to the beer, there were food trucks and live music throughout the weekend.

Prior to the festival, we put together a list of 25 beers for attendees to try. The Better on Draft team was on site throughout the weekend. We were able to volunteer a few hours pouring for Odd Side Ales and Cheboygan Brewing Co.

We know we’re unable to try and enjoy the more than 750 beers available at the festival. From what we did enjoy, here are our Top 10. Beers are listed in alphabetical order based on brewery name.

Ed Norton

Edwin "Ed" Norton was first introduced to craft beer when his designated fraternity Big Brother Vince asked him if he knew anything about the topic. Ed admitted his ignorance and the rest is history as Ed and Vince would split six-packs of craft beers each week during Ed's probationary status. Ed is now a craft beer enthusiast who is always on the lookout for a beer he has not tried when bottle shopping or drinking at breweries and bars. In addition to drinking beer, this livelong Michigan resident enjoys a bunch of hobbies that he doubts you really care about, other than drinking beer and sounding off about it.
