When looking for the perfect spot in my kitchen to attach the 30 Watt Capski Bottle Opener, I realized something strange: I didn’t have any bottles in my house. Indeed: a thorough search (okay, glance) through both the upstairs and basement refrigerators confirmed that I was awash in beer cans, but lacking noticeably in bottles. Nevertheless, I attached the adorable bottle opener to the flat side of a cabinet in the kitchen, and vowed to make use of it once the 24 hour “settling” period was complete.

The packaging for the Capski Bottle Opener describes it as ultra strong silicone, and boasts that it can be removed and attached to any smooth, flat surface – no drilling required. Aside from the already mentioned recommended 24 hour wait before using, the convenience of a bottle opener that doesn’t have to be permanently attached anywhere, and that can also be moved around as needed, seems like something that should have been around ages ago. Even on a camping trip, where the image of friends passing a handheld opener around a campfire is so ubiquitous that it’s practically the ad image for camping equipment, the Capski would be perfectly at home stuck onto a cooler’s side or even a portable speaker. There, I fixed camping. Now no one will moan about having lost or forgotten the bottle opener and everyone can enjoy a beer at the fire.

I decided to try out the abilities of the Capski Bottle Opener with a bottle of Waypost Brewing Co’s Sea Salt Stout. Perhaps I placed it too high, or maybe it’s just been a while since I opened anything other than a can, but I ended up with Sea Salt Stout all over the side of my white cabinet and quite a bit on the floor, too. Despite the minor explosion, the Capski Bottle Opener didn’t even budge. It stayed fixed to the cabinet’s side and looked completely unfazed. It seemed like the issue was definitely placement, so, following the directions on the box, I peeled it off, cleaned it, let it dry, and then attached it to the front of my refrigerator instead.

This proved to be a much more appropriate spot, and once the Capski Bottle Opener had settled there for another 24 hours, I was able to crack open another beer without incident. The full day of settling is a bit of a long wait time, but I’m a patient person, and I think quality is worth it.

I love the ability of this product to move to where it’s needed, and I really think this would be great for a tailgate or backyard picnic. Slap one onto the side of your garage beer fridge, and your party is ready to go. I’d recommend this to anyone who is hesitant to attach a traditional bottle opener to any surface in their home or garage, and would even have another stashed in my travel equipment just in case.
