August 27, 2022 will be the final day for Barn Brewers Brewery in Lawton, MI.

A Facebook post announced the closure about a week after it’s 7 year anniversary. They opened their doors on August 11, 2015 and listed a ton of great memories on the Facebook post:

According to the 2021 Brewery Production Numbers for Michigan, Barn Brewers Brewing produced 85 barrels of beer. In comparison, here are the first 10 breweries under 100 barrels:
  • Our Brewing Co (Holland) – 98
  • 3 Gatos Brewery (Wyoming) – 95
  • Hillsdale Brewing Company (Hillsdale) – 95
  • Tulip City Brewstillery (Holland) – 95
  • Old Boys’ Brewhouse (Grand Haven) – 94
  • Arctic Circle Brewing Co (Chesterfield) – 90
  • Wiltse’s Brewpub (Oscoda) – 87
  • Barn Brewers Brewery (Lawton) – 85
  • Meckley’s Flavor Fruit Farm (Cement City) – 85
  • Townies Brewery (Ann Arbor) – 85
While we at Better on Draft haven’t formally covered Barn Brewers Brewing, those of us who’ve stopped in have had nothing but good things to say. If you’re not heading up to Burning Foot next Saturday, make the trek out to Lawton and have enjoy a few at Barn Brewers before the barn door closes forever.
Cheers!

Ed Norton

Edwin "Ed" Norton was first introduced to craft beer when his designated fraternity Big Brother Vince asked him if he knew anything about the topic. Ed admitted his ignorance and the rest is history as Ed and Vince would split six-packs of craft beers each week during Ed's probationary status. Ed is now a craft beer enthusiast who is always on the lookout for a beer he has not tried when bottle shopping or drinking at breweries and bars. In addition to drinking beer, this livelong Michigan resident enjoys a bunch of hobbies that he doubts you really care about, other than drinking beer and sounding off about it.
