1 For All Brewery is a new brewery in Livonia, Michigan. One For All opened in February of this year. The owner/brewer/repairman/proprietor is a very close personal friend of mine Joe Walters. Joe and I used to work together at Liberty Street Brewing Company for two and a half years. Joe has been in the brewing industry for the last 26 years. He used to also teach at Schoolcraft Community College in their brewing program. We used to hang out and root on the Detroit Lions from my couch during the pandemic, which are some of my favorite memories from a really terrible time in most of our lives. This is the first brewery that I am reviewing that I am also a mug club member at.
Joe decided to open One For All with a simple concept. He wanted to do everything at the brewery, Joe wanted to work for himself and his customers and that was all he wanted to do. One For All is a smaller place, only has a capacity of 25, but the beer is excellent. One For All has a couple of small bagged snacks, chips, pretzels, etc. He does not have a kitchen to make food in. He does allow you to bring in outside food, and there are even quite a few food options very close to the brewery itself. There is a sushi place, So Moon Bowl, right next door that I have not tried yet, but every time that I am there, someone is eating it and raving about how great it is.
One For All is also adults only, 21 and over, so leave the kiddos at home. The seating in One For All is at the bar only, and it is a nice long wooden bar that Joe built himself. As a matter of a fact, Joe did almost everything himself as he was getting ready to open the bar. I stopped in occasionally to check on his progress as things were coming along and he was gearing up to open. The only thing I didn’t see Joe doing was wearing a hard hat. Safety first Joe, safety then teamwork.
One for All generally has about 10-12 beers on tap. Joe also usually has a seltzer or two on tap for those that don’t want to drink a beer. He has a style for everyone. Since he is a small batch brewery there is also quite a bit of turnover, so something may be here today but replaced with something new and better tomorrow. As I am sitting at his bar writing this review he has an Amber Ale, Stout and Imperial Stout, Red and American IPAs, Helles Bock, California Common, Porter, and a Lime Zest Seltzer.
I am currently drinking his Vigilance PA- Pale Ale which is very light, refreshing, but with a slight hop presence but not overly hoppy. I do enjoy everything I have tasted from Joe so far. My personal favorites are the Dark Days Stout, the Golden Helles-Helles Bock, and the Red Jumpsuit- Red IPA.
Next time you are sitting around and looking for a nice, small, cozy hometown brewery to sit down and have a few beers at while chatting with good people, check out Joe Walters and One For All Brewing.
