Even though they are an hour away from my house in Mason, Michigan. One of the breweries in the State of Michigan that I can’t get enough of and have continued to visit for the last 12 years on a consistent basis is BAD Brewing Company. They are another brewery that made my list of top 25 in the state, and since opening in 2012 they have definitely earned that distinction.

Located in the historic Downtown Mason this brewery is fairly large with tons of seating options available for your drinking pleasure. BAD has 2 bars for you to enjoy your beverages at, both bars seat approximately 10 people at each. There are multiple tables spread around the facility for you and your friends to enjoy your beers. Are you a fresh air kind of person? They also offer an outdoor patio on the property for you to drink your day away.

When it comes to food, BAD Brewing Company does offer a kitchen with a full menu that includes delectable treats such as appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, salads, hot dogs, and mac and cheese. I have eaten at BAD a few times over the years, and you can never go wrong with anything on their menu.

As far as events go BAD is home to a Bingo night every Wednesday, Trivia on Mondays, Vinyl night and various other events throughout the year including block parties, live music, comedy shows and much more. Keep up on their socials to see if they are hosting an event during your vacation to BAD Brewing Company. If you are looking for a cozy hometown brewery to host a private event, they do offer private event rentals for groups of 20-50. Call the brewery to schedule your next private event.

For those in your gang of hooligans that don’t drink beer, other options that they offer include Cider, Mead, Wine, Seltzers, and Adult Slushies. For the people in your group that don’t drink alcohol they do offer Non-Alcoholic Beer, Mocktails, Soft drinks, Coffee, and Tea. So they genuinely do offer a little something for everyone.

Now onto our favorite part of the review: BEER! BAD Brewing Company has made plenty of delicious beers over the years including Cause I Got Rye- Rye IPA, Peanutbutter Vanilla Porter, Hoppin’ On Da Bandwagon- Hazy IPA, Tropical Sour, Pineapple Peach Hard Seltzer, Black Is Beautiful- Stout, Stouty McStoutface- Oatmeal Stout, Sunhands Golden Ale- Blonde, Belgian Tripel, Ash Street Amber, Kraken- IPA, No Stout About It- Stout, Sunrise Citra Pale Ale, Super D’s IPA, and many more. SInce they run the gamete with their beer options, they will always have a little something for everyone.

The absolute best beer that I have ever had at BAD Brewing Company is their Chocolate Covered Coffee Brown. This is a rich Brown Ale with a strong presence of chocolate and coffee and a very nice malt presence that finishes extremely smooth. At 6.5% ABV this is a very delicious beer that you can have multiple of, but proceed with caution, since it is so smooth it can go down very easily and after a few, you might go to stand up and realize that gravity has evolved into an enemy as opposed to a friend. But grab cans or growler fills to go, you will not regret that decision. This is an excellent Fall and Winter beer that you can enjoy around a cozy campfire or to stave off those really long Michigan Winter nights.

BAD Brewing Company is not just one of the best breweries in the Lansing area, but it is one of the best breweries you will find in the entire state. I can’t drive to or through Lansing without stopping in Mason and visiting, and neither should you. Stop by and pay them a visit, you never know, you might even see me sitting at the bar. Prost!

P.S. One added bonus to BAD, they are one of the few places I have been that carries baseball hats that actually fit my oversized cranium. If you love hats but have a hard time finding hats that fit your head because you have a ridiculously big skull, BAD Brewing has got you covered.
