Another brewery that I just recently revisited that I hadn’t been to in a long time is Brewery Becker in Brighton, Michigan. I know, it’s not that far from my house, but I don’t think I have been to their taproom in almost a decade. So it was definitely well over-do for a revisit. Brewery Becker opened their doors in 2014 and have been brewing quality beer since.
The building that Brewery Becker is housed in was built in 1873, and is on the National Registry of Historic Places, it was originally known as the Western House. The age and the history of the building are obvious throughout the entire place. They just don’t make places like this anymore.
Brewery Becker is a very big place that has quite a lot of seating throughout. They have a bar that seats about 10-15 people. There are also quite a few tables throughout the bar area. In addition there is also an upstairs area, it was rented out for a private event at the time of our visit, so we didn’t get to check it out. There is also a biergarten in the back of the brewery, which is also dog friendly.
They also have a small menu of light pub fare, pretzels and small snacks. Brewery Becker allows you to still bring in outside food if you are looking for something a little more substantial.
Now when it comes to the beer, they do specialize in more European style beers than the traditional American styles that most breweries have. We ended up getting a flight of 5 from them, you can choose as many or as few as you would like for a flight at Brewery Becker. We ended up getting their Hefeweizen, Dunkelweizen, Munsterlander Alt, and their Kolsch. My personal favorite that we got was their Kulmbacher, which is a dark lager that is smooth and easy to drink, but also has a hop presence to it. It is a historical style that you don’t see very often, but when you do I recommend giving it a try.
When you find yourself traveling around the Brighton area and looking for a great place to stop off and grab a drink with some friends, make a pit-stop at Brewery Becker and grab a pint or two.
