Since yesterday’s post had the brother/sister connection to it, I figured it would be a good idea to take a break until tomorrow of traveling down US-23 and head back to a brewery I visited earlier in that day. That brewery of course was the Cadillac Winery/ Leroy Brewing in Leroy, Michigan. Cadillac Winery opened in 2013, but didn’t start brewing beer until the past few years (I couldn’t find an exact year in my research).
This will be a little bit of a weird review because when I arrived and told the owner that I was there to try the beer, she informed me that they were upgrading their brewing equipment and they didn’t have any beer quite ready to be served at the moment. But she did offer to grab me a small sample of a beer that wasn’t optimally carbonated at the moment. So I did get to try a small sample of their Amber Ale, it had great flavor, but she was right it wasn’t quite ready yet. So I can’t fairly write a review about their beer even though I tried a small sample of it.
The Winery is located on a farm, where they of course grow grapes for their wine, so it covers quite a bit of real estate. But the tasting room is very small with a few seats at the bar area, and just a couple of tables in the tasting area. The tasting room does have live music and other events on occasion so check their socials before heading to the winery.
Since I don’t drink wine, I didn’t drink anything else at the winery. But the owner started chatting with me about my brewery tour, and I was happy to oblige. That was when she asked me if I had been to Sand Lake, and I told her I was heading there later in the day. She handed me a Leroy Brewing coaster and told me to give it to her brother when I got there and tell him that she sent me to visit him. She also handed me a poker chip that is good for a free beer next time I visit, and she sent me on my way.
Although I wasn’t fortunate enough for them to have beer on tap when I visited, maybe your luck will be better than mine. Next time you are in the Cadillac area of Michigan, swing by Cadillac Winery/ Leroy Brewing and give their beer a shot. Just shoot me a message and let me know how it tastes since I didn’t get a chance to try it. Cin cin!
