On our visit to Brewery Becker recently, we decided to also stop by a newer brewery in Brighton, Four Circles Brewery. Four Circles Brewing Company opened in 2023, and is located just off of Grand River as you are going through Downtown.
On a personal note, I had visited Four Circles right after they opened last year. They were still working out the kinks and everything and they are a great example of why I go back and visit places again. The first time I went there, it was obvious that there was quite a bit of getting used to their setup going on and it showed in the beer. This time they had done a complete 180 and everything was on point. The moral of the story: Always give a new place a second chance, some of the best breweries I have been to over the years didn’t always have things figured out a month into opening.
Now as for the brewery itself, they have a smaller taproom, but they do have quite a few tables throughout the place, and a decent sized bar that will comfortably seat about 10 to 15 people at it. In addition, they also have an outdoor area that has a good amount of seating, just in case you like fresh air while enjoying a cold pint. Also, they do not offer food options, they are a bring your own food establishment, so if you are hungry when you are visiting, grab yourself something delicious on your way to the brewery.
Speaking of delicious things, this is the point of the review where we start to discuss the beer. We ended up getting a flight while we were there, which consisted of the Diamond Setter Stout- Oatmeal Stout, Mango Habanero Kettle Sour- Sour, Key Lime Pie Kettle Sour- Sour, Hefeweizen (No name on this one), #millpondlife- Historical Ale (Most likely Kentucky Common). All of them were very delicious, so much so that I went back for a full pint of the Diamond Setter.
The flight wasn’t quite enough, and the owner Nick, kept feeding us samples of everything he had on tap. Which brings me to where the review gets weird. I have an allergy to coconut, so I was not able to try it but the beer that everyone loved in the place was the Coconut Vanilla Brown, almost everyone was drinking it, and everyone was loving it.
So like I said it gets weird, I am going to let my girlfriend Crystal describe it all to you. Yes I am going to review a beer on my page that I didn’t actually drink. Crystal is WAY more stingy than I am with giving beers a 5.0 rating on Untappd, and I am pretty damn stingy if I say so myself. Every word that follows on the next paragraph will be Crystal’s words, not mine. No pressure at all Crystal, you got this.
“It’s been over a week since I had the Coconut Vanilla Brown and I am still thinking about it. The first thing I tasted was the coconut. Even though I can’t imagine people not liking coconut, if you don’t, this beer is not for you. It’s sweet followed by a hint of chocolate and a slight nuttiness. It is the best part of an Almond Joy in liquid form. Don’t get too excited though based on their 8/8 tap list, it is no longer available. Goodbye for now as I find a new beer to cry in.”
I couldn’t have described it better myself, no seriously, had I drank that beer I might not be around to describe it. But next time you are loungin’ around in the Brighton area and looking for really good local beer to drink, drop by Four Circles Brewing Company and taste what they have to offer. Slainte!
