Do you love live music? Do you love craft beer? The two are one and the same when you visit Liquid Note Brewing Company in Otsego, Michigan. Liquid Note has been open since February of 2019 and has become a destination for live music and craft beer ever since.

The inside of the brewery is very spacious, with a stage for live music acts in the middle of the room. They also have a dance floor right in front of the stage, so don’t forget your dancing shoes on a trip to Liquid Note. Since they are a live music venue, they are not open every day of the week. They are open 6-10 on Wednesday and Thursday, and 6-11 on Friday and Saturday. So this is mostly just a weekend venue.

There is plenty of seating and tables throughout the place to enjoy a cold pint and live music. They do have a bar area which had quite a few seats at it, for those of you that like to drink at the bar and chat it up with the locals. They also had a back porch where you could sit and enjoy a few drinks on a nice day outside.

The day I went to Liquid Note, it was pouring rain out when I got there. So I didn’t get to check it out, but they have an outdoor concert area that can seat up to 500 people. It can expand to up to 1,200 people for certain events, like their Verve Pipe and Flashback Festival in September. With a venue that size they get local acts, regional acts, and even nationally recognized artists to perform at their venue. I doubt Taylor Swift is bringing her tour here, sorry Lulu. But this September if you were going to drink a beer, but then you got high, maybe you could check out Afroman as he performs. They have a full list of concerts available for the season on their website.

They do not offer food inside of Liquid Note Brewing Company, but they do have a sister restaurant right next door called Maude’s Taphouse where you can grab some food. Also during live events in the outdoor area they do have offerings from various food vendors.

Now when it comes to the beer at Liquid Note, they asked themselves one question when they started brewing, “What does Johnny Cash’s music taste like in a pint glass?” From the onset you can tell that all of their beers are musically inspired. All of the beers have musical references as their names. In addition to their beer they do offer a full bar, and guest taps of other breweries beers.

I got a flight while I was there and they were a little IPA and stout heavy when I visited so I got 2 stouts, Satchmo’s Lullaby- Coffee Stout, and Paddy’s Tin Whistle- Dry Irish Stout. The first IPA that I got was Flip-Side IPA- American IPA. But my favorite out of the beers I tried was the Psychedelic Haze which is a New England Style IPA. It has a slight haze, it isn’t a super cloudy Hazy IPA. You get scents of tangerine, orange peel and it tastes slightly like a hoppy creamsicle pop. It is a bit of a heavy hitter for a Hazy IPA, clocking in at 7.6% ABV, so enjoy responsibly.

If you are looking for a beer that hits the right note while you listen to live musicians hitting all of their notes, make Liquid Note Brewing Company a stop on your travels. After a night here both the beer and the music will have you screaming encore before you head home. Salud!
