Last month on my trip up to Mackinaw City, we decided that after a long weekend with family that we needed to stop and have a few beers on the way home. We stopped at Oracle Brewing Company which I already did a review of a few weeks ago. About 10 minutes away from Oracle in Shields, Michigan is Loggers Brewing Company. This brewery was established in 2016 and has been serving up quality beers to locals and travelers alike for the last 9 years.

When you walk into the brewery you will notice that they have a smaller bar area that is made out of wood and has the ability to seat approximately 10 people at it. Another thing that you will probably notice, the way the bar is designed, your bartender will always seem as though they are 10 feet tall, due to the area behind the bar being elevated above the seating area of the bar. If sitting at the bar isn’t your pint of ale, they have 12 to 15 tables scattered throughout the space for you to enjoy a couple of pints at.

Loggers Brewing Company is home to quite a few events including but not limited to Trivia on Wednesdays and a Euchre night on Thursdays. If you are looking for a space for a private event, there is an opportunity to rent out the space for private parties. Check with the brewery for details and rental prices for your next big event.

If you have an appetite on your visit to Loggers Brewing Company, unfortunately they do not offer a kitchen on site. They do have a couple of small snacks such as pretzels and popcorn. On occasion they will have food trucks, check their website or their social media to see if they will have a food truck during your visit. At Loggers Brewing Company they do allow you to bring in outside food or allow for delivery at all times so that your can have some dinner while you enjoy a few pints.

For the non-beer drinker in your gang, Loggers does have a few Wine selections and house made Hard Seltzer for their enjoyment. For the children or the non-drinker in the group, they offer a full line of Craft Soda options. There will be a little something for everyone to enjoy when you visit their taproom.

Now we move onto my favorite part of the review, the beer. I have visited Loggers quite a few times over the years, this trip back in January was probably my 4th or 5th time stopping into Loggers throughout their 9 years in business. At the brewery they always have quite a few beer options on tap, during our visit, they had 16 different options on their draft list. These options ran the gamete from light to dark and everything in between. On this most recent trip Crystal ordered the Floodwater Coffee Red and I ordered the Gaelic Craic which is a Foreign Export Stout. A few of the other beers that I have enjoyed on my visits to Loggers in the past include their Section 37- Red IPA, Oktoberfest, and their Woodtick Stout.

My favorite beer from all of my visits to Loggers Brewing Company (which sadly they did not have on my visit in January), has to be their We Creamed Our Peanuts which is an Oatmeal Stout. This beer is very dark, sweet with significant creaminess and a very nutty flavor from the peanuts used to make the beer. This beer finished ever so smooth, and at 5.5% ABV, this is a beer that you can crush multiple of in a sitting and not feel guilty about it. This is a beer that I wish they had on tap at all times.

When you are traveling through Michigan and you are looking to quench your Lumberjack sized thirst, pull up a seat at Loggers Brewing Company and check out a few of their delicious, locally made beers on your visit. Cheers!
