One of the bigger breweries in all of Michigan is located in Williamston, Michigan. I am of course talking about Old Nation Brewing Company. They opened their doors in 2015 and have been making huge waves in the brewing industry ever since. If you live in Michigan and love beer, you have definitely heard of M-43- Hazy IPA. Old Nation makes this beer and they have built a massive operation on the back of this beer alone.

Old Nation has become a powerhouse that distributes their beer all over the State of Michigan. I can go into any beer store and pick up a plethora of offerings that come from their facility in Williamston. They are literally everywhere and with the quality of beer that they produce it is completely understandable as to why they are all over the state.

When you walk into the brewery the first thing that you will see is that they have a very decent sized bar with the ability to seat approximately 15 to 20 parched beer fanatics. There are multiple tables scattered throughout the building to accommodate you and your friends on your beer and dining excursion. Old Nation also has quite a few tables available for outdoor seating just in case you want a breath of fresh air while enjoying a couple of fantastic pints. Old Nation is closed on Tuesdays, so plan your trip to the brewery accordingly.

I know that I normally include information on events that the brewery hosts in my reviews, after scouring their website and their social media platforms, I couldn’t find any information on events or private rentals that the brewery offers. So call ahead and inquire with the brewery to see if they have any events or have space for private events rentals if you are interested in either. But the brewery does offer specials every day of the week, check their website to see what specials are available during your visit. One example of a special that they offer is Pitcher Thursday. Pitchers on the patio area will only set you back $10, limit one on high gravity beers. That is a hell of a deal for some high quality beverages.

Just in case you get the munchies while you are visiting Old Nation, they do have a kitchen on site. Some of the highlights of their menu include offerings such as Appetizers, Burgers, Sandwiches, Entrees, Salads, Soups and various sides. If you can’t leave the kids at home, Old Nation does offer a kids menu, so bring Johnny and Julie along on your visit.

For the non-beer drinker on your visit, there doesn’t really seem to be a whole lot of drinking options upon your visit to Old Nation unfortunately. They do offer various sodas, housemade craft root beer and other non-alcoholic beverages though for non-drinkers and children.

Who came to this review for the beer? Luckily so did I. As mentioned before this place built their legacy off of M-43, but they are much more than just M-43. Some of their other options that I have enjoyed over the years include Whirled Tart Peach- Fruit Beer, Honey Saison- Farmhouse Ale, Chocolate Blacklight Stout, Oktoberfest, Night Farmer- Porter and their Pils. But as mentioned before they are very popular for their M-43 and really any Hazy IPA that they make. Their Hazy IPA lineup that I have tried over the years include B-43- Brut IPA, Boss Tweed- Imperial Hazy IPA, Greenstone- Hazy IPA, and Low Orbit- Session IPA.

My personal favorite from Old Nation has to go to their Single Double which is also an Imperial Hazy IPA. The version that I will review is the Citra edition, they have started putting out various other editions over the last few months. But this beer uses one single type of hop (Citra) and it is a double IPA (Hence the name Single Double). This beer is very citrusy and quite hoppy.. It has a very tropical flavor with a slight bitterness to it due to the hop profile involved in the making of the beer. Even with all of that combined this beer does finish very smooth, but watch yourself while drinking this beer, it clocks in at 9.3% ABV. Be careful and safe while enjoying more than one of these bad boys, it will catch up to you faster than you expect.

If you are in the mood to check out one of the bigger breweries in all of Michigan. Make the destination of your next beer trip, Old Nation Brewing Company in Williamston, Michigan, there will always be something extremely delicious waiting for you upon your arrival. Prost!
