Oracle Brewing Company in Downtown Saginaw

On the way back from my trip up to Mackinaw City a few weeks ago, I decided to stop off in Saginaw, Michigan and visit a brewery that I hadn’t been to in quite some time. Oracle Brewing Company sits right in Downtown Saginaw and was established in 2017 and opened that very same year.

When you walk into the brewery the first thing that you will notice is their very cozy bar space, it is a smaller bar area with approximately 8 seats at it. In addition to bar seating, they have another 10 or so tables scattered throughout the brewery for your drinking shenanigans. Oracle Brewing Company does rent out their taproom for private events and various other gatherings. 

Oracle does host various events throughout the year such as Trivia Nights on Thursdays, Board Game Nights, Book Clubs, Musicians and various other events. Check their website or their socials to see if they are hosting an event on your visit to the brewery. They also have a program called Pints for Positive Change where a portion of a certain beer’s sales will go to local rotating charities throughout the year. These beers are usually accompanied by an event for the charity that money is being raised for during the beer’s run on their board. The beers that are part of the Pints for Positive Change Program are denoted on the menu with a sun logo on their menu. 

As far as food goes at Oracle Brewing Company, they do not offer a kitchen on site. They do offer a couple of light snack options on the menu. Since they do not offer a kitchen, outside food is always welcome at Oracle Brewing Company. There are quite a few local options within walking distance of the brewery that you can order from to satisfy your food cravings while you enjoy a few pints. 

So you brought a friend that doesn’t enjoy beer along with you for your visit? They are in luck, Oracle does offer various Wine and Cider options for them to consume on your visit. For non-alcoholic options Oracle has Nitro Cold Brew Coffee, Hot Coffee, Hot Tea and a multitude of soda options.

Now we are going to move onto the main event of the article, the beer options at Oracle Brewing Company. In good news for those of us that absolutely love beer, they recently quadrupled their brewing capacity by buying brand new fermenters, this should keep the Saginaw area nice and wet for years to come. 

On our visit, the beer here was absolutely stellar, we got a flight, as we usually do, the options that we chose this time included Nectaronomicon- Hazy IPA, Zwickel and Hazelnut C-Beans- Stout. All of these options were outstanding, but there was one that was better than all the rest in my personal opinion, and that was their Jackie Sour Brown. This beer is a Flanders Oud Bruin style, it has a rich, malt presence that finishes with a sourness that will definitely make you pucker up a little bit, but in a very good way. Checking in at 7.0% ABV, this is one that can catch up to real quick if you let it. Not enough breweries venture into doing Flanders/ Oud Bruin style beers, but this is one beer that I would highly recommend that you try on your next visit to Oracle Brewing Company, if it is on their taplist. 

Next time you are traveling and you find yourself in the Saginaw, Michigan area, and you are craving great beers in a nice intimate setting, pull up a seat at Oracle Brewing Company. They have been serving excellent beers to the thirsty people of Saginaw and all of Michigan for the last 8 years. Cheers!
