The next stop up in Marquette is Superior Culture, which was established in 2018. They have become known for their non-alcoholic Kombucha and teas, but have also cemented a name for themselves in the realm of beer brewing and fermentation of various other products.

Superior Culture is a little bit of a smaller place, kind of a little hidden. It just looks like a house as you are walking by it, we walked past it two or three times before we eventually knew we were in the right place. They have a few seating options throughout the tap room, including a smaller bar area that has the capability of seating about 5 people at most. Tables and chairs are scattered throughout the building. Another option for seating is an outdoor porch area, which is where Crystal and I sat. Yet again, we visited the day before the Fall Beer Festival, so they were busy and not much seating was available.

The tap room hosts quite a few events such as open mic night, live music performances, and various other events. They do have art for sale on the walls of the tap room, so if you are looking for a new piece to tie the room together, a stop at Superior Culture might be in order. They do rent out the tap room for private events and gatherings, so reach out to the tap room if you are looking for a place to host an event.

Like I said before they are known for their non-alcoholic options like their Kombucha, ciders and teas. In addition to their beer other alcoholic options available are mead, cider and seltzer. Another thing is that they do not offer food at the tap room, but they do offer food trucks on occasion. I could not find out if they allow outside food on days they don’t have a food truck, so reach out to the tap room and ask before you bring in outside food.

Since they specialize in beverages other than beer, most of their tap system is taken up by those options. But usually they will have about 2 to 4 beer options on their tap list. So on our visit we skipped the normal routine of ordering a flight, and I just ordered one of their beers on tap, and Crystal ordered a Seltzer.

Neither one of us checked in our beverages on untappd at this stop. This was probably due to us not getting a signal on our phones at the taproom. So this review will not include a beer review like most posts, sorry. But some of the beers that frequent their tap list include Birch Beer- Blonde Ale, Simpleton Ale- IPA, Honey Booch Pale Ale, and U.P. Maple Beer- Porter. I remember enjoying the beer that I had, and if I remember correctly I do believe it was the U.P. Maple Beer, but since I didn’t check it in while we were there, I can’t say for sure.

Unlike myself, if you are into Kombucha and homemade teas, and various other fermented beverages stop by and give Superior Culture a shot next time you are in Marquette. If you are more into beer, like me, they will have a few limited options available but the options will be tasty. Cheers!
