Since I will be pouring for them today at the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beerfest in Ypsilanti from 4:30 until 6:00, I figured that now is as good of a time as any to review SuperNatural Brewing and Spirits in Livonia, MI.

This is the second brewery that I will be reviewing that I have a mug club membership at. It was a Christmas present from one of the followers of the page, Leona David, thanks again Leona, I get quite a bit of use out of your Christmas gift. As a matter of a fact, I am typing this review as I sit at their bar having a beer on their mug club Mondays. Half off growler fills for all members of the mug club on Mondays.

SuperNatural Brewing and Spirits opened in November of 2017 and has been home to all sorts of off the wall and delicious recipes since then. They have a few of your normal standards on tap, they usually have the Altered States Amber, the Shadow Realm Stout, and their Paranormal Pils are a few of their mainstays.

What they are really known for though is their off the wall creations that head brewer Nick Cornell, who is also a fan of this page, decided to come up with. From fruited sours like their Watermelon Man (currently on tap), to my girlfriend’s favorite Snozzberry Parfait. They also like to make bigger ABV beers like their Sheep Shagger Strong Scotch Ale, SuperNatural 10 which is a Belgian Strong Ale, they also do an entire barrel aged lineup of their Shadow Realm Oatmeal Stout, they will always have something different on their menu.

Some of my personal favorites from the menu are the Hazed and Confused NEIPA, which I am drinking as I write this review. It is hoppy with a slight bit of a fruity flavor to it, and it checks in right at an ABV of 7.3%. Another favorite of mine is the Force Field Nut Cup ale which is a nut brown ale that tastes like you are drinking a Reese’s peanut butter cup.

The brewery itself has about 8 to 10 seats at the bar, then they have another 25 to 30 tables scattered throughout the bar for additional places to sit. They also have a few tables outside of the brewery in case you like to enjoy Michigan’s supernatural weather patterns while drinking a beer at SuperNatural Brewing and Spirits. They also have a decent sized room available for events for rent, so next time you want to throw a birthday party or an event, give them a call, they will be more than happy to accommodate. They also have a full kitchen just in case you brought a case of the munchies along with your thirst for beer. In their kitchen you can also get some items that are made with hot sauces that are made by another friend of the page Mr. Bob Slevin aka hot sauce Bob aka Cleveland Bob.

SuperNatural also has quite a few events throughout the year that they host for beer lovers. They do a sour fest every year for those of you that love to pucker up when you drink a beer. Also they do an event called the 13 beers of Halloween, where everyday for 13 days before Halloween they release a new beer for the masses, which really fits into their supernatural theme. They also do the 12 Braggots of Christmas, where they also release new Braggots everyday leading up to Christmas. In addition they host beer pairing dinners, comedy nights, and various other events throughout the year.

Last but not least, the staff at SuperNatural is awesome. The bartenders Mike, Molly, Sarah, and Heather are all very knowledgeable bartenders. Nick the brewer who was mentioned earlier is a down to earth guy that will come around and answer any questions you have about the beer. Occasionally one of owners Ernie will be lurking around and willing to talk at almost anytime.

So next time you are looking for a spooky and out of this world beer experience, come on by Livonia, Michigan and have a beer with the fun and awesome people at SuperNatural Brewing and Spirits. As an added bonus, there is a good chance that if you come in on a Monday or Wednesday, I might just be lurking around the bar having a few drinks myself.
