Another fantastic brewery in the State of Michigan is Transient Artisan Ales out of Bridgman, Michigan. Transient opened in 2016 and has been crushing the Michigan beer scene ever since.

As far as the taproom goes Transient is a relatively small place compared to the amount of volume that they move out of the brewing area. There are a handful of tables and a few seats throughout the inside of the brewery. They also have a seating area outside, not sure if it is open all the time, or if it depends on the weather.

Transient does not offer a kitchen or food. They do allow you to bring in outside food though. The taproom itself is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and have varying hours throughout the rest of the week. They also have events occasionally, so check out their socials before you head out, maybe they will have something really cool going on while you are there.

Back when they opened, they hit the ground running, and haven’t looked back. They established themselves as one of the superior Hazy IPA producers in the state of Michigan. Trust me they have a lot, I have tried at least 50 different Hazy IPAs from Transient over the years. All of them have been excellent. They also run the gammete from Session Hazy’s all the way up to Triple Hazy IPAs. They also do quite a few standard IPAs, but not quite at the rate that they release Hazy IPAs.

Then after establishing their Hazy production, they moved onto conquering sours. They have a ton of sours in their catalog also. All their sours are very delicious also. A good majority of them do contain lactose, just a fair warning for those that are lactose intolerant. My girlfriend really loves the sour beers from Transient, our fridge always has a few in it. They also release new sours constantly, everytime I go to the store it seems like they have two or three new ones weekly.

Even though they make great sours and great IPAs, the main reason that I love Transient so much, they have the best barrel-aging program in the State of Michigan by far. They are making huge Barrel-Aged Imperial Stouts at Transient. Led by their Buckley line and its many variants. They usually all clock in around 12-16% ABV depending on the variant. You can absolutely taste the love and the care that goes into each and every release on their barrel-aged schedule throughout the year. These beers are great sipping beers to share with a couple of good friends at a beer sampling, or if you are compelled to drink an entire bottle of it to yourself, that will probably be your beer for the night.

Transient Artisan Ales can be found in most liquor stores near you. I see them on the shelves all the time. I always have a couple of cans of Transient in my fridge. So you don’t have to go visit them in order to taste the deliciousness that they produce. But next time you are in the Bridgman area, I would absolutely, hands down recommend that you stop by Transient Artisan Ales for a few. Hell, pick up a few cases to go while you are at it and stock your fridge up for a little while. I know that’s what I do when I visit their taproom.
