After a long weekend at work this past weekend, I had to take a day off yesterday from everything and just unplug (and cook a ton of corned beef), it was much needed. We are going to take a break today from the posting about last week’s trip to Detroit, we will pick that back up tomorrow. Today we are going to talk about the holiday that is upon us today, St. Patrick’s Day.

Now, I was going to do an article about the history of St. Patrick’s Day, I then realized how big of an undertaking that was going to be to do the full history of St. Patrick’s Day justice. So stay tuned to the page next year for a full history of the holiday. It might be a week long post just to cover as much as I can about the holiday, the history behind it and why we celebrate it.

Today’s post will clearly encourage you to celebrate the holiday, (even if you have to celebrate it with green beer), this is a page all about beer after all. I will encourage you to go out, drink local, have fun, visit your favorite watering holes, say hello to your favorite bartender and your neighbors alike. Go out and enjoy one of the many St. Patrick’s celebrations happening around town. Drink a Stout, Porter, IPA, whatever your heart desires. Go have a couple of shots of Irish Whiskey, A pint of Guinness, Do a Car Bomb if you must (Just don’t do it around me, I have a terrible story to tell about Car Bombs, I will only tell that one in person though), have fun today.

Now is a good time in the post for the shameless St. Patrick’s Day plug, I will be bartending at Bearded Lamb starting at 2 and going until business dictates that I am done for the day. You can even come and visit me and chat about beer or I can even tell you my Car Bomb story, if that is what you feel like doing today.

The important part of having fun though, is doing so responsibly. Call an Uber, Lyft, Cab, have a designated driver if you are traveling by any means other than foot. If you are traveling by foot, pay attention to traffic and your surroundings as you travel around your local establishments having a good time. None of us want St. Patrick’s day to end badly for us or those around us. Drink, have fun, celebrate the holiday, but I beg you to please do so responsibly.

If you plan on only having one or two and that one or two turns into six or eight, please call a ride or walk home, don’t make a bad decision that will ruin yours or someone else’s life. An uber ride is much cheaper than getting into trouble. I recommend anyone to do this everyday of the year, not just St. Patrick’s Day. Today is just a great day to use as a reminder.

So celebrate everything green today and enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day. If you have any fun plans for the day, please tell me or post pictures of what you are doing in the comments section down below. Have fun and celebrate responsibly. Slainte!
