Well today is the beginning of my favorite sporting event of the year. I absolutely love the opening weekend of March Madness. From the close games to the blowouts, buzzer-beaters, drama, intrigue, seeing a small school from the middle of nowhere punch a blue blood program in the face, nothing compares to the opening weekend of March Madness. The Stanley Cup playoffs as a whole are overall more exciting for me, but for the first 4 days of the Madness, nothing tops this sporting event for me.
I am about to sit down and do nothing but watch Basketball all day today. You may see me around at a local brewery or two so that I can give Crystal a break from watching Basketball all day, but I will be watching everything, all day today. Tomorrow at the brewery, I will be flipping back and forth between games like a madman (That is until 10 o’clock tomorrow night, then there will be one game and one game only on, Go Green!)
When not at a brewery during the day today, I have a fine selection of some craft beers to drink throughout the day as I watch Basketball all day. Some of the selections that are on deck for the Madness today include a couple of selections from Drafting Table Brewing Company in Wixom, Mild Mannered- Mild Ale, Munich Style- Helles Lager. A few beers from Transient Artisan Ales out of Bridgman, Wrong Angles- DDH West Coast IPA, which was brewed in collaboration with Blockhead Beerworks, and Agrarian- DDH IPA with Rye, Oat, Spelt and Wheat. These are the ones that I will be drinking for sure today, then I have a whole gaggle of different beers in the stockpile that I may end up getting to throughout the day.
What beers will you be drinking as you embrace the craziness known as March Madness? Who do you have in your Final Four if you have filled out a bracket or two? What’s the biggest upset that you are calling in your bracket? Leave your answers in the comments section below.
My Final Four consists of Michigan State (I have not put them in the Final Four since the 2016 debacle, I hate when my rooting interest and my bracket get ruined at the same time), St. John’s, Duke and Houston. The biggest upset that I will put out there and lay claim to is having number 13 seed High Point University taking down the 4 seed Purdue Boilermakers. That game tips off in less than an hour from the time this post goes live, so we will know by 3 whether I was right or not. So sit back and enjoy the next few days of Basketball as dreams come true, high hopes are dashed and lots of tears and beers flow throughout the days. Cheers!
