Well since it is their last two days in business, I figured that now would be a great time to fit in a review of Loaded Dice Brewery out of Troy, Michigan. I did interview the owner Jef Smith for the 12 Brewers of Christmas segment on the page back in December but they have never gotten an official brewery review on the page.

Be sure to stop by and visit them today and tomorrow from 5-10 pm, it will be your last chance before we lose one of the cooler breweries in the Metro Detroit area. For as cool as the brewery itself is, the people that run it are that much better and it is a shame that we are losing this local beer institution. It is an even bigger shame that I worked all last weekend and will be working during their business hours for this final weekend so I won’t be able to make it out there personally. I really wanted to make it out there for one last beer, but I guess it just wasn’t in the cards for me.

Loaded Dice opened their doors in the heart of the COVID pandemic in September of 2020 and was able to bring quality beer to the people of Troy for almost 5 whole years. They are a gambling themed brewery with casino themed apparel all over the brewery and most of their beer names even have a gambling and or Las Vegas style theme to them.

The brewery itself is tucked away in a strip mall in Maplewood Plaza off of Rochester Road. Once inside the brewery you will notice that it is a smaller operation with approximately 15 tables scattered throughout the building for your imbibing needs. There is a nice wooden L-shaped bar that can seat 10 to 12 thirsty beer drinkers at it. Good luck getting a seat at the bar at Loaded Dice, on my 4 visits to their brewery, the bar was always full and their last weekend will probably not be any different. During the warmer weather months there is even a small roped off seating section outside with about 6 to 8 tables in it for you to enjoy a beer or two while enjoying a nice sunny day at the brewery.

Loaded Dice does not have a kitchen unfortunately, but they do allow you to bring in outside food or have food delivered. They were also very good at getting food trucks to come to their location on a very consistent basis. As a matter of fact for today they have Bart’s Pizza that will be slinging pies for all of you while you indulge in a couple of their beers while celebrating all that Loaded Dice has contributed to the brewing community one last time. I did not see any food trucks listed for tomorrow, but you can always check their socials tomorrow or call the brewery and find out if they will have a truck tomorrow.

They have made a ton of high quality beers at Loaded Dice over the past 5 years. Some of my favorite beers over the years from the gang at Loaded Dice Brewery include Jittery Jackpot- Golden Ale, Live At The Bike- IPA, Troy’s Bravest- Czech Pilsner, Slow Play- Kolsch, The Rich Recluse- Sour, Skibby’s Chances- Amber Ale, Resurrection of the Fat King- Pastry Stout, Dank Vegas- Hazy IPA, Seltzer For Todd- Hard Seltzer and Field Bet Wheat.

Although my favorite beer over the years from Loaded Dice was their Slam Dunk Wager which was a Munich Dunkel that they brewed back in 2021. I have been back multiple times over the years and they did not have this beer on tap on subsequent visits and it made me a little sad. This was everything you want a Munich Dunkel to be, it was malty, roasty with slight hints of licorice and toffee. It also finished slightly dry from the wheat that was used in it, but it finished oh so smooth. This beer checked in at 5.2% ABV, so you could have had a couple of them in a sitting without feeling bad about it. I wish I had some of this beer as I type this review.

What are you waiting for? There are only 2 days left to enjoy delicious beers at Loaded Dice Brewery in Troy, Michigan. Don’t wait any longer to go and grab a beer from Jef and the wonderful people at Loaded Dice because if you don’t make it today or tomorrow, you are guaranteed to crap out. Thank you guys again for all that you have done for the industry over the last 5 years, I hope that you guys absolutely crush it this weekend and the people of the brewing community send you out with an absolute bang. Loaded Dice Brewery, we salute you. Cheers!
